Our Featured Cat Is
Hope

Details on
Hope
Sometimes a name fits a
cat perfectly. Such is
the case with our
darling little Hope. We
don’t know if she
started out as someone’s
pet, or if she was born
in a feral colony. But
when we found Hope, she
had been living among a
large colony of stray,
feral, and abandoned
cats. What made her
different is that she
would meow at the person
feeding her, and feral
cats don’t usually do
that. Hope found herself
in a desperate
situation, and once
Saving Graces 4 Felines
realized her plight, we
quickly came to her
rescue. She was a very
young mother kitty,
defending her babies
from a vicious dog
attack. Tragically, she
could only save one
kitten--a black male we
named Sparrow. (He was
adopted quickly after
his rescue.) Hope risked
her own life to protect
that little kitten. The
dog mauled her back leg
beyond saving. He tore
off her top lip and
several teeth, and
crushed her nose on both
sides with his huge
fangs. Though
semi-feral, Hope never
tried to bite or scratch
the SG4F's volunteers
who came to her aid and
took her to the vet. She
seemed to understand
that they were just
trying to help her. She
had a long recovery,
with a lot of
medication, but she
accepted the care
graciously, never
harming the ones
treating her injuries
and infection. Now, Hope
does very well on three
legs, and she is VERY
fast. Her nose has since
healed, though it is a
little flat and you can
hear her breathe. Her
upper lip has healed as
well. Hope is a tiny
thing--not more than 5
lbs. in weight. She will
not allow anyone to hold
her, but perhaps in time
she will learn to trust
a special person. She
deserves a second chance
at life, because she
valiantly fought and
risked her young life to
save her babies. If
someone out there has a
heart as big as Hope's,
won't you give her the
chance at happiness that
she deserves? It might
take awhile to win her
trust and her heart, but
she has proven her
worth. She is an
amazing, beautiful,
brave little kitty. |
